Bid Model overview
A Bid Model is an optimization tool that you can control to adjust bids, allocate budgets, and shift priorities to optimize campaign performance.
Certain factors, such as eligibility requirements, differ based on the individual Bid Model component that you define for a campaign. Refer to these resources before beginning the process of applying a Bid Model setting to a Creative dimension:
In this article, you’ll learn how to apply a Bid Model setting (Spend Ratio, Dimension Priority, Bid Modifier) to a Creative dimension. You can also add Bid Model settings to Location and Inventory dimensions. Refer to these resources for more details:
Apply Bid Model settings
You can add Bid Model settings to one campaign at a time, and in the following ways:
Add a Spend Ratio, Dimension Priority, and/or Bid Modifier from the Bid Model app
Select the Bid Model app from the homepage.
Choose whether the campaign is Running, Paused, Pending, Paused, Rejected, or a Draft from the status dropdown menu.
Search and select the campaign for which you want to apply Bid Model settings.
A campaign or IO is searchable from the Select Campaign field when two criteria are met: it is eligible for Bid Modeling, and its status matches the one you chose in step 2.
Select the Creative tab.
Click the checkbox(es) next to the creative(s) for which you’d like to apply a Spend Ratio, Dimension Priority, and/or Bid Modifier.
Select + Add to Modeling.
Select the Modeled Creatives tab.
To apply a Spend Ratio to these creative IDs:
Locate the Spend Ratio Method column and choose Flexible or Strict.
Refer to Spend Ratio overview - Key terms and concepts for more information on these options.
Note that Dimension Priorities are required for any creative IDs featuring a Flexible Spend Ratio.
Locate the Spend Ratio column and enter a percentage from 0% to 100% for each ID.
The percentages must equal 100% if the Spend Ratio is Strict, and can equal or exceed 100% if it’s Flexible.
Select Update Changes to apply the settings.
To apply a Dimension Priority to these creative IDs:
Locate the Priority column.
Add a priority ranging from 1 to 10 for each creative ID, with smaller numbers indicating a higher priority, and larger numbers indicating a lower priority.
Refer to steps 8a-8b to apply Spend Ratios to these creative IDs. A Flexible Spend Ratio is required for any dimensions that are assigned a Dimension Priority.
Select Update Changes.
To apply a Bid Modifier to these creative IDs:
Locate the Bid Modifier column.
Enter a Base Bid Price for the campaign.
Add a multiplier between 0.1X and 100X for each desired creative ID.
1X indicates that you want the creative to observe the campaign’s Base Bid Price. Numbers below 1X indicate that you want to pay less than the campaign’s Base Bid Price, and numbers above 1X indicate that you want to pay more than the campaign’s Base Bid Price for that dimension.
Select Update Changes.
The Spend Ratios, Dimension Priorities, and/or Bid Modifiers will typically apply to the campaign within the next hour.
Bulk operations: Steps 8, 9, and 10 show how to apply Bid Model settings one by one. To apply the same Bid Model setting to multiple dimensions, use bulk operations instead. Select the checkbox next to those dimensions; open the Actions menu; and select Spend Ratio, Dimension Priority, or Bid Modifier to enter your preferred settings. |
