Pre-bid audience targeting overview

Pre-bid audiences are groups of fraud and invalid traffic (IVT), brand safety, and viewability pre-bid segments that you select. You can create these audiences and seamlessly integrate them into new or existing campaigns.

The IQM platform supports targeting individual pre-bid segments or pre-bid audiences. We recommend creating a pre-bid audience when you plan to target the same set of pre-bid segments across multiple campaigns. You can add the audience to a campaign instead of manually selecting the individual segments each time.

Review Create or manage a pre-bid audience to learn how to create a pre-bid audience, then return to this article when you’re ready to add one to a new or existing campaign.

Target a pre-bid audience

Data provider notice: A campaign can include pre-bid audiences and pre-bid segments from a single data provider—either Integral Ad Science (IAS) or DoubleVerify (DV).

You can target a pre-bid audience in the following ways:

From the Audiences app - New campaign

Follow these steps to add Processing or Ready pre-bid audiences to a new campaign from the Audiences app:

  1. Open the Audiences app.

  2. Click Pre-bid Audience.

  3. Select the checkbox(es) next to the audience(s) you’d like to target in the new campaign.

    1. If you’re adding multiple pre-bid audiences to the same campaign, refer to the Vendor column to confirm that you’ve only selected audiences from one data provider.

  4. Click Create Campaign. This will open the Create Campaign pop-up window.

  5. Assign the campaign to an insertion order (IO).

  6. Enter a name into the Campaign Name field.

    1. Choose a unique one to differentiate this pre-bid audience from others that you may create.

  7. Select whether the campaign is Advanced or PG.

    1. Choose Advanced if you’ll target Open Exchange or Private Marketplace (PMP) deals.

    2. Choose PG if you’ll target Programmatic Guaranteed (PG) deals.

  8. Click Create.

Note that you can still add any pre-bid segments to, or remove any pre-bid segments from, the campaign. These changes will not affect the pre-bid audience that you created. If you’d like to update the pre-bid audience to ensure those changes are saved, you should edit or duplicate it in the Audiences app instead of the Campaigns app. Refer to Manage an existing pre-bid audience for a step-by-step tutorial.

From the Campaigns app - New campaign

Follow these steps to add Processing or Ready pre-bid audiences to a new campaign from the Campaigns app:

  1. Open the Campaigns app.

  2. Choose an insertion order (IO).

  3. Click + Create Campaign. We’ll prompt you to choose an IO and name your campaign, then redirect you to a page where you can add or update its details and targeting parameters.

  4. Locate and expand the Pre-bid Audiences section.

  5. Search or browse and select one or more pre-bid audiences from the Select Audiences dropdown menu.

    1. The campaign will list each of the audience’s segments. Select the trashcan icon next to any segments to remove them from the campaign, if desired.*

  6. Complete all other applicable fields for the campaign.

  7. Select Save.

*Removing segments will impact only the current campaign, and not the original pre-bid audience that includes them. If you’d like to update the pre-bid audience to ensure that any changes are saved, you should edit or duplicate it in the Audiences app instead. Refer to Manage an existing pre-bid audience for a step-by-step tutorial.
