Geofarmed audience overview
Geofarmed audiences consist of individuals who have visited a specific geographic location or set of geographic locations. These locations can be on-premises or in the vicinity of a point of interest. Users are added to the audience based on visits within a specified date range and frequency.
Specialty and Political advertisers can Create a Geofarmed audience; and Healthcare advertisers have the option to also Create an NPI-based HCP or Nurse Geofarmed audience, Create a non-NPI-based Nurse Geofarmed audience, or Create a Generic Geofarmed audience.

Create a Geofarmed audience (Specialty, Political)
You can create a Geofarmed audience for Specialty or Political campaigns in the following ways
You can also use a combination of these options; for example, you might select certain custom areas and upload a spreadsheet of ZIP Codes to create your Geofarmed audience.
Follow these steps to access the access the + Create Audience workflow:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + Create New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
By Custom Areas (Specialty, Political)
Follow these steps to create a new Geofarmed audience by choosing custom areas:
Select a country from the Country menu.
Click the Custom Area tab.
Choose a Circle, Polygon, or Rectangle shape, depending on your preference.
Select the + or - icon to set the mile radius that your shape should represent.
If desired, search by a location to move the map view to that area.
Draw the desired custom area on the map.
Review your selection(s) in the Targeted Locations panel.
Select the arrow icon to expand the list.
Repeat steps 3 through 7 to add additional custom areas, which will be assigned an “OR” relationship.
Click Next.
Enter a name for the audience.
Choose the audience’s Time Range settings.
Select the Timezone.
Select a Start Date and, if desired, End Date.
Refer to Key terms and concepts: Start Date and End Date for more information on how these settings determine which users get added to the Geofarmed audience.
If desired, expand the Advanced section to apply frequency and time range settings to this audience.
Enter the number of times the user must have visited a target location, and during what interval (Total, Weekly, Monthly), before they can be added to the audience.
Refer to Key terms and concepts: Frequency for more information on how the audience’s Advanced settings work.
Choose specific days of the week and times of the day during which users should be added to the audience.
All days and times are selected by default. Refer to Key terms and concepts: Customize Time Range for more information on how these settings are executed.
Any Frequency settings will apply during the selected times.
Select Create.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
By ZIP Codes (Specialty, Political)
Follow these steps to create a new Geofarmed audience by adding ZIP Codes:
Select a country from the Country menu.
Click the ZIP Codes tab.
Type or paste a list of ZIP codes into the available field, separated by commas.
Select Add.
Review your selection(s) in the Targeted Locations panel.
Select the arrow icon to expand the list.
Click Next.
Follow steps 10 through 13 of By Custom Areas (Specialty, Political).
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
By File Upload (Specialty, Political)
File upload notice: CSV files are supported, and may contain a maximum of 1K records per file. |
Follow these steps to create a new Geofarmed audience by uploading a file containing locations, addresses, or polygons:
To upload a list of ZIP codes:
Download the Sample File to ensure your file is formatted correctly.
If the desired file is stored in your device’s local files, click Upload File and select it.
If the desired file is stored in an external Google Drive or Dropbox account, select the corresponding company's icon.
A pop-up window will open and prompt you to log in, accept any applicable privacy settings, and select the desired file from the online drive.
To upload a custom area:
Select Locations, Addresses, or Polygons in the File Type section.
Download the Sample File to ensure your file is formatted correctly.
If the desired file is stored in your device’s local files, click Upload File and it.
If the desired file is stored in an external Google Drive or Dropbox account, select the corresponding company's icon.
A pop-up window will open and prompt you to log in, accept any applicable privacy settings, and select the desired file from the online drive.
Review your selection(s) in the Targeted Locations panel.
Select the arrow icon to expand the list.
Select Next.

Create a Geofarmed audience (Healthcare)
Healthcare Geofarmed audience notice: A single Healthcare Geofarmed audience must include only one type: NPI-based (HCP, Nurse), Non-NPI-based (Nurse), or Generic. |
You can create an NPI-based, non-NPI-based, or generic Geofarmed audience for Healthcare campaigns in the following ways
By Custom Areas
By ZIP Codes
By File Upload

NPI-based (HCP, Nurse) (Healthcare)
Follow these steps to create a new NPI-based (HCP, Nurse) Geofarmed audience:
Use your preferred method(s) to specify the audience’s locations:
On the 2 out of 2 steps page, choose the NPI-based audience’s type: HCP and/or Nurse.
Selecting both types will result in the creation of two Geofarmed audiences.
If desired, proceed without selecting a checkbox to create a “generic” Geofarmed audience, which will be listed as a “-” Type audience in the Audiences app.
Follow steps 10 through 13 of By Custom Areas to specify the audience’s time range and advanced settings, and create the audience.
NPI-based Geofarmed audience notice: Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin fetching data after you select Create Audience. Once this process is complete and the audience reaches a Data Fetched status, you’ll need to return to the audience and Select a data partner to continue the audience-generation process.

Non-NPI-based (Nurse) (Healthcare)
Follow these steps to create a new non-NPI-based (Nurse) Geofarmed audience:
Use your preferred method(s) to specify the audience’s locations:
On the 2 out of 2 steps page, choose the audience’s type: Non-NPI Nurse.
If desired, proceed without selecting a checkbox to create a “generic” Geofarmed audience, which will be listed as a “-” Type audience in the Audiences app.
Follow steps 10 through 13 of By Custom Areas to specify the audience’s time range and advanced settings, and create the audience.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Generic (Healthcare)
Follow these steps to create a generic Geofarmed audience for healthcare campaigns:
Use your preferred method(s) to specify the audience’s locations:
On the 2 out of 2 steps page, proceed without clicking a checkbox in the Select Type section.
The audience will be listed as a “-” Type audience in the Audiences app.
Follow steps 10 through 13 of By Custom Areas to specify the audience’s time range and advanced settings, and create the audience.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Select a data partner (Healthcare)
Advertisers who create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience (HCP, Nurse) must return to the audience and select a data partner before we can finish processing it. You’ll complete this step when the audience’s status changes from Fetching Data to Data Fetched.
Refer to Geofarmed audience statuses or more information on each status, and follow these steps to select a data partner for an NPI-based Geofarmed audience featuring a Data Fetched status:
In the Actions column, click Select Partner for the desired audience. This will open the Data Partner pop-up window.
Review each data provider’s reach and cost details.
Choose your preferred partner.
Any data partner with a Reach of 100 or greater can be selected.
Click Select Data Partner to apply your selection to the audience.
The NPI-based Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing.
Manage a Geofarmed audience
Use the Geofarmed Audience page of the Audiences app to review, search, sort, to filter your existing Geofarmed audiences. You can also use this page to edit, duplicate, or delete them; and to assign them to campaigns.
Review a Geofarmed audience
Follow these steps to review an existing Geofarmed audience:
Locate the audience you’d like to review.
Search by ID or Audience Name.
Filter by Status for all audiences and by Type for Healthcare audiences.
Open the column selector to add or remove a table column.
Select the desired audience’s ID in the ID column. This will open the audience in a pop-up window, where you can review its details.
Once the audience features a Ready status, you can also review additional data and insights.
Review the audience’s Reach, Cost (CPM), and Status in the summary panel.
If you created a Healthcare audience, review the Type and Data Partner in the summary panel.
Review the details you entered when you created the audience such as the audience’s target locations.
On the 2 out of 2 Steps page, select Done to close the pop-up window and return to the Geofarmed Audience page.
Edit a Geofarmed audience
More on editing Geofarmed audiences: Only an existing Geofarmed audience’s name can be edited. If you’d like to apply changes to the audience’s other settings—such as its target locations or frequency settings—we recommend duplicating the audience or creating a new one instead. |
Follow these steps to edit an existing Geofarmed audience’s name:
Select the existing name from the table’s Audience Name column, and type the new audience name directly in the cell.
Click the checkmark icon to confirm your selection.
Duplicate a Geofarmed audience
Follow these steps to duplicate an existing Geofarmed audience:
Select the page icon from the desired audience’s Actions column.
Follow the steps outlined in Create a Geofarmed audience (Specialty, Political) or Create a Geofarmed Audience (Healthcare) to name the audience and apply your preferred settings.
If no changes are applied, the duplicated audience will include the same locations and settings as the existing audience; and its Audience Name will show “Copy of” followed by the existing audience’s name.
The duplicated audience will appear in the Geofarmed Audience table of the Audiences app. The original audience will remain unchanged.
Delete a Geofarmed audience
Audience deletion notice: Note that deleted audiences are unrecoverable, and this action is permanent. As a safeguard, consider duplicating and updating the existing audience to reflect any desired changes. |
You can delete Geofarmed audiences individually or in bulk. They must feature a Ready, Processing, or Failed status; and their Allowlist/Blocklist count must be 0.
Follow these steps to delete a Geofarmed audience.
To delete audiences individually, use the Actions column to select the trash can icon next to the individual audience that you’d like to delete
To delete audiences in bulk:
Select the checkboxes next to the desired audiences.
Click Delete.
The deleted audience(s) will no longer appear in the Audiences app.
Assign a Geofarmed audience to a campaign
A single campaign can target up to 20 audiences. You can assign Geofarmed audiences to new and existing campaigns, and from the Audiences and Campaigns apps. Refer to Assign an audience to a campaign for step-by-step instructions.
Review data costs
The Data Cost metric represents a campaign’s total spend or targeting and/or blocking data segments. This includes the total amount spent on audience targeting.
You can review a campaigns’ data costs in the following ways:
Review a campaign’s data costs from the Dashboard app
Follow the steps outlined in Customize a dashboard table - Add or remove a column to choose which metrics are displayed on your dashboard. Select the Data Cost metric from the Spending category to add it.
Review a campaign’s data costs from the Campaigns app
In the Campaigns app, open the column selector to choose which metrics are displayed in the table. Select the Data Cost metric from the Spending category to add it.
Review a campaign’s data costs from the Reports app
Follow the steps outlined in Generate a report to create a custom report. Select the Data Cost metric from the Spending category to add it to the report.
