Geofarmed audience overview
Geofarmed audiences consist of individuals who have visited a specific geographic location or set of geographic locations. These locations can be on-premises or in the vicinity of a point of interest. Users are added to the audience based on visits within a specified date range and frequency.

Create a Geofarmed audience
You can use the Audiences app to create one Geofarmed audience at a time, and by adding Custom Areas or ZIP Codes. Specialty and Political advertisers can Create a Geofarmed audience, and Healthcare advertisers have the option to also Create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience or Create a non-NPI Nurse Geofarmed audience.
Note that each of these options are created through first selecting the standard Geofarmed Audience option, then choosing the appropriate audience subtype such as HCP, Nurse, or Non-NPI Nurse, for example. Refer to the links above for step-by-step instructions for the Geofarmed Audience subtype that you’d like to create.
Create a Geofarmed audience (Specialty, Political)
Create a Geofarmed audience from Custom Areas (Specialty, Political)
Follow these steps to create a new Geofarmed audience by drawing a custom area or uploading a file containing those custom areas:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + Create New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
Select a country from the Country menu.
Click the Custom Area tab.
To draw a custom area, select Circle, Polygon, or Rectangle, depending on your preference, and draw the desired region on the map.
To upload a custom area, select Locations, Addresses, or Polygon in the Upload File section.
Click Upload File to browse your local files and choose the desired file containing the locations.
Certain location types in the Upload File section have different file requirements. Review any in-platform help text to review those requirements, and download the Sample File to ensure your location lists are formatted correctly.
Review your selections in the List of Targeted Locations panel.
Select Next.
Enter a name for the audience.
Choose a unique one to differentiate this audience from other Geofarmed audiences that you’ll create.
Choose the audience’s Timezone.
Select a Start Date and, if desired, End Date.
Refer to Key terms and concepts: Start Date and End Date for more information on how these settings determine which users get added to the Geofarmed audience.
If desired, choose Frequency and Frequency Type settings for this audience.
Refer to Key terms and concepts: Frequency for more information on how these settings work.
If desired, choose specific days of the week and times of the day during which users should be added to the audience.
Any unselected cells represent the days and times during which users won’t be added to the audience.
Select Create to create the Geofarmed audience.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Create a Geofarmed audience from ZIP Codes (Specialty, Political)

Follow these steps to create a new Geofarmed audience by adding ZIP Codes or uploading a file containing those ZIP codes:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + Create New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
Select a country from the Country menu.
Click the ZIP Codes tab.
Type or paste a list of ZIP codes into the available field, and click Add.
Separate each ZIP code by a comma.
To upload a list of ZIP codes, locate the Upload CSV File section.
Click Upload File to browse your local files and choose the desired file containing the locations.
Download the Sample File to ensure your location lists are formatted correctly.
Review your selections in the List of Targeted Locations panel.
Select Next.
Follow steps 10 through 15 of the Create a Geofarmed audience from Custom Areas (Specialty, Political) workflow.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience (Healthcare)
Create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience from Custom Areas
Follow these steps to create a new NPI-based (HCP, Nurse) Geofarmed audience by drawing a custom area or uploading a file containing those custom areas:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
Select a country from the Country menu.
Select the NPI-based audience’s type: HCP and/or Nurse.
Selecting both HCP and Nurse will result in the creation of two Geofarmed audiences.
Click the Custom Area tab.
To draw a custom area, select Circle, Polygon, or Rectangle, depending on your preference, and draw the desired region on the map.
To upload a custom area, select Locations, Addresses, or Polygon in the Upload File section.
Click Upload File to browse your local files and choose the desired file containing the locations.
Certain location types in the Upload File section have different file requirements. Review any in-platform help text to review those requirements, and download the Sample File to ensure your location lists are formatted correctly.
Review your selections in the List of Targeted Locations panel.
Select Next.

Choose the audience’s Timezone.
Select a Start Date and, if desired, End Date.

If desired, expand the Advanced section to choose Frequency and Frequency Type settings for this audience.

If desired, select Customize to choose specific days of the week and times of the day during which users should be added to the audience.

Select Create Audience to create the Geofarmed audience.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin fetching data. Once this process is complete and the audience reaches a Data Fetched status, you’ll need to return to the audience and Select a data partner to continue the audience-generation process. You can monitor the audience’s current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience from ZIP Codes

Follow these steps to create a new NPI-based (HCP, Nurse) Geofarmed audience by adding ZIP Codes or uploading a file containing those ZIP codes:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + Create New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
Select a country from the Country menu.
Select the NPI-based audience’s type: HCP and/or Nurse.
Selecting both HCP and Nurse will result in the creation of two Geofarmed audiences.
Click the ZIP Codes tab.
Type or paste a list of ZIP codes into the available field, and select Add.
Separate each ZIP code by a comma.
To upload a list of ZIP codes, locate the Upload CSV File section.

Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin fetching data. Once this process is complete and the audience reaches a Data Fetched status, you’ll need to return to the audience and Select a data partner to continue the audience-generation process. You can monitor the audience’s current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Create a non-NPI-based Geofarmed audience (Healthcare)
Create a non-NPI-based Geofarmed audience from Custom Areas
Follow these steps to create a new non-NPI-based (Non-NPI Nurse) Geofarmed audience by drawing a custom area or uploading a file containing those custom areas:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + Create New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
Select a country from the Country menu.
Select the non-NPI-based audience’s type: Non-NPI Nurse.
Follow steps 6 through 16 of the Create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience from Custom Areas workflow.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Create a non-NPI-based Geofarmed audience from ZIP Codes

Follow these steps to create a new non-NPI-based (Non-NPI Nurse) Geofarmed audience by adding ZIP Codes or uploading a file containing those ZIP codes:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Click + Create New. This will open the Create Geofarmed Audience pop-up window.
Select a country from the Country menu.
Select the non-NPI-based audience’s type: Non-NPI Nurse.
Follow steps 6 through 11 of the Create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience from ZIP Codes workflow.
Your Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing. You can monitor its current status by following the steps outlined in Review a Geofarmed audience.
Select a data partner
Advertisers who create an NPI-based Geofarmed audience (HCP, Nurse) must return to the audience and select a data partner before we can finish processing it. You’ll complete this step when the audience’s status changes from Fetching Data to Data Fetched.
Refer to Geofarmed audience statuses for more information on each status, and follow these steps to select a data partner for an NPI-based Geofarmed audience featuring a Data Fetched status:
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the audience you’d like to review.
Open the column selector, if desired, to add or remove a table column.
Click Select Partner from the audience’s Actions column. This will open a Data Partner pop-up window.
Review each data provider’s reach and cost details, and choose your preferred partner.
Click Select Data Partner to apply your selection to the audience.
The NPI-based Geofarmed audience will immediately begin processing.
Manage a Geofarmed audience
Use the Geofarmed Audience page of the Audiences app to review, search, sort, to filter your existing Geofarmed audiences. You can also use this page to edit, duplicate, or delete them; and to assign them to campaigns.
Review a Geofarmed audience
Follow these steps to access the Geofarmed Audience page and locate an existing Geofarmed audience:
Open the Audiences app.
Select Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the audience you’d like to review.
Open the column selector, if desired, to add or remove a table column.
Select the audience’s name in the Audience Name column. This will open an audience details pop-up window, which includes that audience’s attributes.
Once the Geofarmed audience features a Ready status, you can also review its Reach details.
Select Done to close the Audience Details pop-up window and return to the Geofarmed Audience page.
Edit a Geofarmed audience
Note that only edits to a Geofarmed audience’s name and end date are supported.
Follow these steps to edit an existing Geofarmed audience’s name or end date:
Use the audience-type panel to either select All or Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the audience you’d like to edit.
Select the checkbox next to the desired audience.
You can edit one Geofarmed audience at a time. Selecting multiple audiences will disable the Edit Audience feature.
Open the Actions menu and click Edit. This will open a pop-up window where you can update the audience’s details.
Select Next to access Step 2.
Make your desired edits to the audience’s name and/or end date.
Select Save to apply the changes to the existing Geofarmed audience.
Duplicate a Geofarmed audience
Follow these steps to duplicate an existing Geofarmed audience:
Use the audience-type panel to either select All or Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the audience you’d like to duplicate.
Select the checkbox next to the desired audience.
You can duplicate one Geofarmed audience at a time. Selecting multiple audiences will disable the Duplicate Audience feature.
Open the Actions menu and click Duplicate. This will open a pop-up window where you can update the audience’s details.
Follow the steps outlined in Create a Geofarmed audience to add or remove locations, change the inclusion and exclusion settings, add parameters such as dates and frequency settings, and create the audience.
The duplicated audience will appear in the Geofarmed Audience table in the Audiences app and feature a Processing status.
Delete a Geofarmed audience
Audience deletion notice: Note that deleted audiences are unrecoverable, and this action is permanent. |
You can delete certain Geofarmed audiences individually or in bulk. Each Geofarmed audience must feature a Ready, Processing, or Failed status—and must not be assigned to a campaign—to be eligible for deletion.
Follow these steps to delete a Geofarmed audience:
Use the audience-type panel to either select All or Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the audience(s) you’d like to delete.
Select the checkbox(es) next to the desired audience(s).
Open the Actions menu and click Delete. This will open the Delete Audience? Pop-up window, where you can review any warnings and confirm your selection.
Any deleted audiences will no longer appear on the Geofarmed Audience or All pages of the Audiences app.
Assign a Geofarmed audience to a campaign
Assign Geofarmed audiences to new or existing campaigns in the Audiences app or Campaigns app. A single campaign can target up to 20 audiences.
Add a Geofarmed audience to a new campaign - Audiences app
Follow these steps to assign Processing or Ready Geofarmed audiences to a new campaign in the Audiences app:
Use the audience-type panel to either select All or Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the Geofarmed audience(s) you’d like to add to a new campaign.
Select the checkbox(es) next to the desired audience(s).
Confirm that any Healthcare Geofarmed audiences you select are the same Type.
Open the Campaign Actions menu and choose Create Campaign. This will open the Create Campaign pop-up window.
Search or browse and select an insertion order from the Insertion Order menu.
Enter the campaign’s name into the Campaign Name field.
Choose a unique one to differentiate this campaign from others that you may create.
Select Create. This will redirect you to the campaign creation page of the Campaigns app.
Locate and expand the Audiences section, where Geofarmed is pre-selected and the Geofarmed audience(s) that you added are listed in a table.
If desired, open the Select Audiences menu to search and select additional Geofarmed audiences to the campaign.
Complete the campaign’s other required and applicable fields, as needed.
Save your changes.
Select Save as Draft to apply your selections in a draft format.
Select Run to apply your selections and create the campaign.
Add a Geofarmed audience to a new campaign - Campaigns app
Follow these steps to assign Processing or Ready Geofarmed audiences to a new campaign in the Campaigns app:
Open the Campaigns app.
Choose an insertion order (IO). This will direct you to the Insertion Order Info page.
Select + Create Campaign. We’ll redirect you to a landing page for the new campaign, where you can add or update its details and targeting parameters.
Locate and expand the Audiences section.
Select the Geofarmed audience type.
Open the Select Audiences menu to search and select the Geofarmed audiences that this campaign will target or block.
Complete the campaign’s other required and applicable fields, as needed.
Save your changes.
Click Save as Draft to apply your selections in draft format.
Click Run to apply your selections and create the campaign.
Add a Geofarmed audience to an existing campaign - Audiences app
Follow these steps to assign Processing or Ready Geofarmed audiences to existing campaigns in the Audiences app:
Use the audience-type panel to either select All or Geofarmed Audience.
Search or filter the table to locate the Geofarmed audience(s) you’d like to add to an existing campaign.
Select the checkbox(es) next to the desired audience(s).
Confirm that any Healthcare Geofarmed audiences you select are the same Type.
Open the Campaign Actions menu and choose Assign To Campaign. This will open the Add To Campaign pop-up window.
Use the Campaigns field to search or browse and select the existing campaign(s).
Click Update to add the audience(s) to the campaign(s) you selected.
Add a Geofarmed audience to an existing campaign - Campaigns app
Follow these steps to assign Processing or Ready Geofarmed audiences to existing campaigns in the Campaigns app:
Open the Campaigns app.
Choose an insertion order (IO), then filter or search your campaigns to locate the one for which you’d like to add the Matched audience(s).
Locate the Campaign Name column and click the campaign’s name. This will redirect you to a landing page for the campaign, where you can add or update its details and targeting parameters.
Locate and expand the Audiences section.
Select the Geofarmed audience type.
Open the Select Audiences menu to search and select the Geofarmed audiences that you’d like to add to this campaign.
Select Save to apply your changes to the existing campaign.
Remove a Geofarmed audience from a campaign
Follow these steps to remove a Geofarmed audience from an existing campaign:
Open the Campaigns app.
Choose an insertion order (IO), then filter or search your campaigns to locate the one for which you’d like to remove the Matched audience(s).
Locate the Campaign Name column and click the campaign’s name. This will redirect you to a landing page for the campaign, where you can add or update its details and targeting parameters.
Locate and expand the Audiences section.
Select the Geofarmed audience type.
Select the trashcan icon next to each Geofarmed audience that you’d like to remove from the campaign.
Save your changes.
Select Save as Draft to apply the changes in a draft format.
Select Run to apply the changes and create the campaign.
Select Save if the campaign is already running and you’d like to apply the changes to the active campaign.
The campaign will no longer target the Geofarmed audience(s) that you removed; however, the audience(s) will remain available in the Audiences app, and other campaigns that are targeting the audience(s) will not be impacted.
Review data costs
The Data Cost metric represents a campaign’s total spend or targeting and/or blocking data segments. This includes the total amount spent on audience targeting.
You can review a campaigns’ data costs in the following ways:
Review a campaign’s data costs from the Dashboard app
Follow the steps outlined in Customize a dashboard table - Add or remove a column to choose which metrics are displayed on your dashboard. Select the Data Cost metric from the Spending category to add it.
Review a campaign’s data costs from the Campaigns app
In the Campaigns app, open the column selector to choose which metrics are displayed in the table. Select the Data Cost metric from the Spending category to add it.
Review a campaign’s data costs from the Reports app
Follow the steps outlined in Generate a report to create a custom report. Select the Data Cost metric from the Spending category to add it to the report.
