Creatives overview
Creatives are the ads that your campaigns serve. With Vera, you can add Image, HTML, and Video (Standard and VAST) creatives, then group them, assign them to campaigns, and manage them without leaving the conversation.
Vera uses the same upload-and-manage options as the Creatives app, so your creatives follow the same requirements wherever you add them. New creatives start with a Pending status. You can assign them to campaigns right away, and they’ll run once they’re approved.
The details Vera needs depend on the creative’s format:
Image and Standard Video: A Click URL is required.
HTML and VAST: Click tracking is built into the creative’s code, so these formats don’t use a separate Click URL.
Groups and campaigns can each contain one creative format. Standard Video and VAST creatives both count as Video, so you can group or assign them together. Audio and Native creatives aren’t currently supported in Vera.
Refer to Creative ad specs and requirements for more information on creative requirements.
Add a creative with Vera
Follow these steps to add a creative with Vera:
Open the Vera app.
Select Creative below the input box to start from a ready-made prompt, or type your own request to add a creative. This will redirect you to a new conversation with Vera.
If desired, include the creative’s format (Image, HTML, or Video) in your request.
If not already provided, choose the creative’s format when Vera asks.
Click Add.
Depending on the creative type, upload or paste your creative file or details in the pop-up window, and review the preview.
Vera fills in the creative’s name from the file. If desired, edit it.
Refer to the Add creatives collection for more details on each required and optional field based on the creative type.
For Image and Standard Video creatives, enter a Click URL.
Click Add Creative.
The creative will appear in the Creative Details list with a Pending status. It’ll run once it’s approved.
Add creatives in bulk
More on bulk creatives: Each batch must contain one creative format. Vera won’t ask for missing details inside a batch, so any creative that’s missing required information, such as a Click URL for an Image creative, won’t be created. |
You can add several creatives of the same format at once:
Image: a file or a list of links
Standard Video: links or files from Google Drive
VAST: pasted VAST XML, a VAST URL, or a spreadsheet with the creative name in column A and the VAST XML or URL in column B
HTML: a spreadsheet with the creative name in column A and the HTML code in column B
Follow these steps to add creatives in bulk:
Use the chat box to add your file, links, or VAST code.
Attach one file per message.
If your file is missing Click URLs, enter one Click URL when Vera asks to apply it to every creative in the file.
Review the summary of creatives that Vera can and can’t create.
Click Create Creatives to add the eligible creatives.
If any creatives couldn’t be added, download the file that Vera provides to review the reason for each one.
The new creatives will appear in the Creative Details list with a Pending status. They’ll run once they’re approved.
Manage creatives with Vera
After you add creatives, Vera shows them in a Creative Details list with two tabs: All Creatives and Grouped Creatives. Select creatives in the list to take action on them.
Review a creative
Follow these steps to review a creative’s details:
Select All Creatives or Grouped Creatives in the creative list.
Click the desired creative’s ID. This will open the creative’s details and a preview.
Pause, run, duplicate, or delete creatives
More on creative actions: Vera asks you to confirm before deleting creatives, and warns you when an action would leave a campaign without a running creative. If Vera can’t complete an action for some creatives, Vera lists each one with the reason. |
Follow these steps to pause, run, duplicate, or delete creatives or creative groups:
Select the checkbox next to each desired creative.
Choose Pause, Run, Duplicate, or Delete from the Actions menu.
Confirm your selection when Vera asks.
Group creatives
More on creative groups: A group can contain one creative format, and a creative can belong to more than one group. Grouped creatives stay in the All Creatives tab and also appear in the Grouped Creatives tab. |
Follow these steps to group creatives:
Select the checkbox next to each desired creative.
Click Save to Group. This will open the Group Creatives pop-up window, where you can create a new group or choose an existing one.
To add the creative(s) to a new group, click New Group.
Enter a name for the group.
Select Save.
To add the creatives to an existing group, click Existing Group.
Choose the existing group’s name from the Creative Group menu.
Select Save.
Assign creatives to a campaign
More on campaign assignment: A campaign can contain one creative format. If your selection includes more than one format, campaign actions aren’t available. |
Follow these steps to assign creatives or creative groups to a new or existing campaign:
Select the checkbox next to each desired creative(s).
Open the Campaign Actions menu and choose whether you’d like to add the creative(s) to a new or existing campaign.
An existing-campaign selection opens the Assign To Campaigns pop-up window, where you can choose the campaigns.
A new-campaign selection results in Vera prompting you to continue with campaign setup.
Refer to Create a campaign with Vera for step-by-step instructions on either approach.
Manually add or manage creatives
You can manually add or manage creatives in the Creatives app at any time. Refer to the Creatives and specifications collection for more details and step-by-step instructions.
