Matched audience troubleshooting overview

All advertisers can create and target Matched audiences if their account and campaign meet certain eligibility criteria. Advertisers belonging to certain verticals, such as Healthcare and Political, may also be eligible to use NPI data or Voter data to generate audience segments that are specific to those verticals.

If you encounter an error or are blocked from creating, managing, or targeting a Matched audience, refer to these resources first:

Troubleshoot Matched audience creation or management issues

Unable to duplicate an audience

Duplication isn't supported for Matched audiences.

Follow the steps outlined in Create a Matched audience (Specialty, Political) or Create a Matched Audience (Healthcare) to create a new audience instead.

Unable to edit an audience

Only an existing Matched audience’s name can be edited. You can rename an audience directly from the Matched Audience table by selecting the cell containing the existing name.

Unable to change an audience’s name

You can change an existing audience’s name by selecting it in the table’s Audience Name column.

Type the new audience name directly in the cell, and confirm your selection by clicking the checkmark icon.

Unable to delete an audience

You can delete audiences individually or in bulk. Every selected audience must be unassigned from all campaigns before you can delete them.

You can easily reference whether an audience is assigned to any campaigns in the Allowlist/Blocklist column. Audiences with an Allowlist/Blocklist value of 0 can be deleted.

Unable to locate a deleted audience

Deleted audiences are automatically removed from the Audiences app as soon as you complete this action. For this reason, none of the Matched audiences listed in the Audiences app will feature a Deleted status.

Unable to review audience reach

Audience reach details generate automatically once the audience progresses from a Processing status to a Ready status. Refer to Matched audience statuses and Key terms and concepts - Records, Match Rate, and Reach for more information.

Audience is in Processing status

Depending on the size of the Matched audience, it may take 24 to 48 hours for us to complete the audience-matching process. Once completed, the audience’s status will change from Processing to Ready. If something goes wrong during audience creation, then it’ll feature a Failed status instead.

Unable to locate HCP, Nurse, or Patient (beta) Matched audience options

Access to Patient Matched audiences is currently limited to users participating in a closed, invitation-only beta testing program. General availability for this feature is coming soon.

You’ll have the option to select an audience Type when you add your audience’s settings. Refer to Create a Matched audience (Healthcare) for step-by-step instructions.

Note that only Healthcare advertisers are eligible to create HCP, Nurse, or Patient Matched audiences. Contact your account admin if you believe you should have access to these audience-creation options but are unable to locate them in the Audiences app.

Unable to locate Voter Matched audience options

Note that only Political advertisers are eligible to create Matched audiences from voter data. However, Political advertisers can complete this step by creating a standard Matched audience and uploading a file that contains voter details. Refer to Create a Matched audience (Specialty, Political) for step-by-step instructions.

Unable to generate audience insights

You can generate audience insights for Matched audiences that feature a Ready status and include at least 10K Records. Note that Audience Insights reporting doesn’t currently support Patient Matched audiences; however, all other Matched audience types are supported when they meet the other eligibility criteria.

Unable to further segment an audience

Each file you upload to a Matched audience creates a single target audience. This audience can’t be further segmented.

If you’d like to segment your NPI list, Voter list, or other first-party data into multiple audiences, you’ll need to create one file for each audience you wish to target. Refer to Create or manage a Matched audience for step-by-step instructions.

Unable to upload additional source files

Each Matched audience can include one source file containing your NPI list, Voter list, or other first-party data. In other words, the ratio of source file to Matched audience is 1:1. Repeat the processes outlined in Create or manage a Matched audience for each audience.

Troubleshoot Matched audience targeting issues

New campaign - Unable to select a PG campaign type

PG campaigns aren’t eligible for Matched audience targeting. When you create a new campaign that will target the Matched audience, the Advanced option is selected by default, and the PG option is disabled.

Existing campaign - Unable to add to a PG campaign

Only Advanced campaigns are eligible for targeting Matched audiences. For this reason, the Audiences section is intentionally excluded from PG campaigns.

Existing campaign - Unable to add to an Advanced campaign

Campaigns typically support targeting multiple audience types. A campaign targeting an ABM audience, however, must only include one or more ABM audiences. For example, a campaign can’t target a Matched audience if it’s already targeting an ABM audience. Refer to ABM audience overview for more information, and confirm that the audience is targeting only non-ABM audiences and segments.

If the campaign isn’t targeting an ABM audience, confirm how many audiences it’s targeting instead. One campaign can target up to 20 audiences.

Existing campaign - Campaign is missing from list

If you’re attempting to add the Matched audience to an existing campaign, and that campaign isn’t available in the Campaigns list, the campaign isn’t eligible for Matched audience targeting. Refer to Matched audience eligibility requirements for more details.

Add To Campaign button is disabled

The Add To Campaign button becomes disabled when the audience(s) you selected aren’t currently eligible for targeting and/or none of your campaigns are currently eligible.

Confirm that each audience you selected features a Ready or Processing status, and refer to Matched audience eligibility requirements for more details.

Create Campaign button is disabled

The Create Campaign button becomes disabled when the audience(s) you selected aren’t currently eligible for targeting.

Confirm that each audience you selected features a Ready or Processing status, and refer to Matched audience eligibility requirements for more details.
