In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to target an inventory group in a campaign. There are two methods available as mentioned below.

From the Campaigns app

This is the primary method for applying an inventory group to a campaign. Begin by navigating to the "Inventory" section within the Campaigns app.

Select Inventory Group

If you select the "Select Inventory Group" option, a window will appear showing all available groups in the account, comprising various types of inventories such as Open Exchange, PMP, PG, and Contextual.

Choose the inventory group you wish to include in your campaign and click "Select.” This will add the selected groups to the campaign. Please note: if you do not have an inventory group available in your account yet, you must create one before proceeding.

The list of selected groups will now be available in the inventory section.

The selected inventory groups are not part of the campaign until the campaign has been saved. At this point, you can review your selections or make changes. You can remove unwanted groups from the table or adjust the Include/Exclude toggle for any inventory group in the table.

Save the campaign once your selection is final.

Add New Inventory Group

The second option, "Add New Inventory Group," is used when you want to add a brand new group to the campaign. Clicking on "Add New Inventory Group" will redirect you to the Inventory app, where you can create a new group within your account.

After creating a group, you need to return to this campaign page to select it for inclusion/exclusion in your campaign.

From The Inventory app

You can also assign any inventory group as a targeting parameter for any campaign directly within the Inventory app.

In the Inventory app, navigate to the "Groups" tab found in the top navigation bar. This will present a list of groups in the left panel and if a specific group is selected, the contents of that group will appear in the right panel of the screen. If no group is selected, the right panel will display a summary of all groups, similar to the layout shown in the following screenshot.

Select any inventory group from the left panel to view its details.

When you click on "Assign To Campaign" in the top right of the screen, it will open a popup that allows you to search for and select the campaigns where you want the selected group to be assigned and targeted.

The selected campaigns will appear in a table inside the popup. You can choose to allow or block using the toggle in the allowlist/blocklist column.

Toggling to Allowlist means the platform will target only inventories available in the specified group for displaying ads. Toggling to Blocklist means the platform will bid on all other inventories except those mentioned in the Blocklist.

To confirm the action, click the "Update" button. This will add the selected Inventory Group to all the chosen campaigns. The change will be immediately reflected in the campaigns.

An indication for whether an inventory group is included in Allowlist or Blocklist is also provided at the top of each Inventory group card in the left panel. For example, in the below screenshot, the group CNN2 is allowed in 122 campaigns, while 31 campaigns are blocking it.
