Political Planner plan and proposal troubleshooting

Maximum campaign limit exceeded

You’ll receive a “This proposal draft exceeds the maximum limit of 250 campaigns” error when your current plan-form entries will produce too many campaigns.

You likely used the plan’s Advanced section to segment your campaigns by individual targeting categories and subcategories. This segmentation allows you to create more precise campaigns, but too many selections can cause you to exceed the maximum limit of 250 campaigns.

Follow these steps to address the issue:

  1. If possible, change the selection from Manual Campaigns to AI Campaigns.

  2. If Manual Campaigns is still selected, deselect certain Locations, Audiences, Device Types, and/or Inventory until the number of campaigns fall below the maximum limit.

  3. If you haven’t made Advanced selections but are still exceeding the maximum 250-campaign limit, we recommend adjusting your plan’s targeting rules.

Minimum reach not met

A plan’s reach is the estimated number of individual users who will be exposed to your ad at least once during the campaign. Plans require a minimum reach of 1K users.

You’ll need to adjust your plan’s targeting criteria to expand the universe of users you can reach with your strategies. Refer to Key terms and concepts - IQM Universe for more information.

Proposal is processing

When you generate a proposal by selecting Generate Campaigns, we sync it with IQM’s campaign management tools to ensure that all of your targeting rules are applied. This process typically takes approximately one hour to complete.

Contact your IQM account representative if your proposal fails to move from Processing to Converted.

Unable to select past dates

As Political Planner generates forward-looking strategies tailored to your upcoming campaigns’ objectives and targeting rules, you can select only future dates when creating a plan.

If you’d like to generate and review performance data for past campaigns instead, visit the Reports app and Insights app.

Targetable locations limited to United States

Plans target the United States by default. You can add more granular targeting by selecting options such as states, Designated Market Areas (DMA), counties, cities, or ZIP codes; or congressional districts, state senates, or state houses.

Non-US targeting is not currently supported.

Targetable locations limited to “OR” relationship

Plans apply an “OR” relationship to your location targeting settings by default. This means the campaign will target a user if they’re located in any of the locations you chose, as long as all other campaign targeting criteria are met.

Certain data segments aren’t clickable

You can choose up to 100 audience segments. If you’ve reached this limit but want to select a different segment, then you’ll first need to remove a selected one.

Certain targeting categories are missing

Note that only certain sections are applicable and available for plans with a Voter TV+ objective (Plan Information, Basic Details, Locations, Demographics, Audience).

Refer to Create or manage a Political Planner plan for a complete list of targeting categories available for plans with a Reach Forecasting or Budget Estimation objective.

No Inventory Groups are shown

You’ll need to create an inventory group in the Inventory app before you can add it to your proposal. That inventory group must also have a known Reach greater than zero. Refer to Create or manage an inventory group for step-by-step instructions.

If you’ve already created an inventory group but it’s not populating in the plan-creation form, note that only Open Exchange and Connected TV (CTV) inventory groups are supported.

Refer to Inventory - Open Exchange inventory type if you’d like to choose individual IAB categories and/or exchanges to target instead.

Contextual Inventory Groups or PMP Inventory Groups are missing

Only Open Exchange and Connected TV (CTV) inventory group types are supported in Political Planner proposals. Refer to Create or manage an inventory group for more information on creating inventory groups in the Inventory app.

CTV and/or OTT devices aren’t clickable

You can target CV and OTT devices if you selected Video in the plan’s Creatives section and selected the TV Ad Buying toggle switch. These selections will enable the CTV and OTT buttons in the Devices section.

Unable to add a strategy

The + Add Strategy button becomes enabled only when four or fewer strategies are shown on the Strategies page.

Strategies section is missing

The strategy review and creation workflow is only applicable for plans with a Reach Forecasting or Budget Estimation objective.

Refer to Create or manage a Political Planner plan to learn how to generate a proposal from a plan with a Voter TV+ objective.

Unable to edit, duplicate, download, or delete a plan or proposal

The ability to manage a plan or generated proposal depends on its current status.

Refer to Create or manage a Political Planner plan for more information on supported actions by status.

Generated proposal is missing Linear TV campaigns

Linear TV data is a reference baseline that’s included to model incremental CTV reach. No Linear TV campaigns are created or activated during the media-planning process in Political Planner.

Political Planner campaign troubleshooting

Time zone isn't editable

Generated campaigns use the same time zone as the location where the proposal was initially generated. While you can’t edit this setting, you can edit start and end dates directly in a plan’s draft.

Campaign generation failed

In certain cases, campaigns may fail to generate after you select Generate Campaigns. This error is typically related to a technical issue. For example, your IQM login or device’s browser may have timed out.

Refresh your browser and select Generate Campaigns again to retry. Contact your IQM representative if the issue persists.

Unable to choose which campaigns to generate

All of a proposal’s campaigns will generate when you select Generate Campaigns. You’ll need to delete any campaigns that you’d like to exclude. Note that deleted campaigns are unrecoverable, and this action is permanent.

Refer to Delete a proposal's campaigns for additional information.
