Retargeted audience overview
Retargeted audiences consist of individuals who have visited your website where a Pixel Script Code was installed, and during the data collection period you defined. Depending on your campaign objectives, you can target or block the Retargeted audience based on their previous engagement with your brand.
Refer to Retargeted audience overview for more information and eligibility requirements, or continue reading to create and manage a Retargeted audience in the IQM platform.

Obtain a Pixel Script Code
When you create a new Retargeted audience, we’ll automatically redirect you to the Integrate Tag screen, which includes a Pixel Script Code and step-by-step instructions to integrate the Pixel Script Code.
Refer to Review a Retargeted audience to obtain a Pixel Script Code for a Retargeted audience that you previously created.
Integrate the Pixel Script Code
More on a website’s header section: The header section immediately follows “<head>” in a website’s code. The “<head>” element is a container that stores information that isn’t directly displayed to the end user. For example, it can include a tracking pixel, define webpage styles and scripts, and determine other metadata. You can locate the “<head>” element by reviewing the code placed between the “<html>” tag and the “<body>” tag. |
Follow these steps to integrate the Pixel Script Code, and refer to the simplified representation of what your header might look like in the code snippet shown above.
Obtain the Pixel Script Code and copy it to your clipboard.
Locate the header section of the website’s code. If you’re using a CMS or web platform to manage the site, locate the header template instead.
Locate the section’s closing tag, “</head>”.
Paste the code directly above “</head>”.
By placing the code here, you’ll ensure that the script loads early in the page’s overall rendering process. This allows the pixel to collect data efficiently.
If installed correctly, the pixel will immediately begin firing and collecting user-visit data. However, note that it may take up to two hours for pixel fires to reflect in the IQM platform.
Send the Pixel Script Code
Follow these steps to send a Pixel Script Code and integration instructions to up to 15 recipients:
Select the checkbox next to the desired audience.
Click Integrate tag. This will open the Integrate Tag pop-up window.
You can review and send the Pixel Script Code for one Retargeted audience at a time. Selecting multiple audiences will disable the Integrate tag option.
Select the Email Pixel Script Code tab.
Enter each recipient’s email address into the Email ID field, separated by commas.
Click Send to share the Pixel Script Code and installation instructions.
Select Done to close the window and return to the Retargeted Audience page.
Edit a Retargeted audience
Audience-edit notice: The edits you apply to an existing audience will automatically be reflected in the campaigns you’ve assigned it to. These changes may affect the performance of those campaigns.
Follow these steps to edit an existing Retargeted audience:
Select the pencil icon from the desired audience’s Actions column. This will open the Edit Retargeted Audience pop-up window.
Follow the steps outlined in Create a Retargeted audience to apply your desired changes.
Select Save to apply the changes to the existing Retargeted audience.
Duplicate a Retargeted audience
While you can edit or delete existing Retargeted audiences, duplication isn’t supported because each Retargeted audience includes a unique Pixel Script Code.
Follow the steps outlined in Create a Retargeted audience to generate a new Retargeted audience, which also creates a new Pixel Script Code that you can install to begin capturing users.
Delete a Retargeted audience
Audience deletion notice: Note that deleted audiences are unrecoverable, and this action is permanent. |
You can delete Retargeted audiences individually or in bulk. They must feature a Ready, Processing, or Failed status; and their Allowlist/Blocklist count must be 0.
Follow these steps to delete a Retargeted audience.
To delete audiences individually, use the Actions column to select the trash can icon next to the individual audience that you’d like to delete
To delete audiences in bulk:
Select the checkboxes next to the desired audiences.
Click Delete.
The deleted audience(s) will no longer appear in the Audiences app.
