Margin overview

Agencies with Workspace-level ownership may be eligible to define CPM-based margins for their advertisers. These margins are managed in the Finance tab of the Customers app.

Add or manage a margin

Follow these steps to add or manage a margin for an advertiser:

  1. Open the Customers app.

  2. Select the Finance tab.

  3. Click the name of the desired advertiser.

  4. Locate the desired section to add or change a margin:

3rd Party Cost (Specialty, Political, Healthcare)

More on 3rd Party Cost: The Customers app process outlined below allows you to add a 3rd Party Cost for individual advertisers. You can also automatically apply a default 3rd Party Cost to all new advertisers onboarded under the Workspace by following the steps outlined in Manage Margin Settings for an Organization.

3rd Party Cost represents costs incurred on behalf of the advertiser outside of the platform such as ad serving or tech fees. This cost allows you to pass these expenses back to the advertiser as an additional CPM price for all new and existing campaigns. The 3rd Party Cost applies only to the impressions served after the agency enabled it–no retroactive charges on previously delivered impressions are applied.

Follow these steps to add a 3rd Party Cost for individual advertisers:

  1. Follow steps 1 through 4 of Add a margin.

  2. Select the toggle switch to enable 3rd Party Cost.

  3. Enter the desired CPM cost.

    1. Amounts greater than $0 and less than $999 are supported.

  4. Select the checkmark icon to confirm and apply your selection, or the X icon to cancel.

Voter Level Data (VLD) Rate (Political)

The Voter Level Data Rate is the CPM rate at which the advertiser’s available balance will be debited for each generated VLD Insights report. You can add a VLD Rate Markup to the Voter Level Data Rate, and the Workspace will only earn that rate markup for generated VLD Insights reports. The Effective VLD Rate represents the final CPM rate at which the advertiser account will be changed for generating VLD Insights reports.

Follow these steps to add or change an advertiser’s VLD Rate Markup:

  1. Follow steps 1 through 4 of Add a margin.

  2. Locate the Voter Level Data Rate section.

  3. Choose whether you’d like to add an Absolute (set dollar amount) or Percentage markup.

  4. Enter the rate-based or percentage-based markup.

  5. Select the checkmark icon to confirm and apply your selection, or the X icon to cancel.

Provider Level Data (PLD) Rate (Healthcare)

The Provider Level Data Rate is the CPM rate at which the advertiser’s available balance will be debited for each generated PLD Insights report. You can add a PLD Rate Markup to the Platform PLD Rate, and the Workspace will only earn that rate markup for generated PLD Insights reports. The Effective PLD Rate represents the final CPM rate at which the advertiser account will be changed for generating PLD Insights reports.

Follow these steps to add or change an advertiser’s PLD Rate Markup:

  1. Follow steps 1 through 4 of Add a margin.

  2. Locate the Provider Level Data Rate section.

You can add a SLS Rate Markup to the Platform SLS Rate, and the Workspace will only earn that rate markup for generated SLS Insights reports. The Effective SLS Rate represents the final CPM rate at which the advertiser account will be changed for generating SLS Insights reports.
